Flights to Mykonos island, Greece

Mykonos Island National Airport is located just 2 km southeast of the island’s capital, Mykonos Town, also known as Chora. It has flights going to and from Athens International Airport (ATH) every day, with direct flights taking just 35 minutes to 50 minutes. Thessaloniki Airport (SKG), also on mainland Greece, provides direct flights as well but less frequently from between 1 hour and 1 hour 20 minutes trips.

There are no year-round international flights as there’s not much tourism during the winter months, except for connecting services from the mainland. However, there are a number of direct options from abroad during the high season, normally from April to October.

From the UK, British Airways provide a couple of direct flights a week from London Heathrow (LHR), which take about 4 hours, while the low-cost easyJet put on direct flights from London Gatwick (LGW), London Luton (LTN) and Manchester Airport (MAN), which take about the same time.

How to get to and from Mykonos Island National Airport

If you’re wondering how to get from Mykonos airport to our hotel , relax.. Mykonos is a small island, so it’s super easy to get to wherever you want to go – and it’s no different getting to your hotel from the airport.

During the summer season, the airport has public buses departing 11 times a day via Fabrika bus station in the centre of Mykonos Town – and that takes about 10 minutes.

Grabbing a taxi is your best bet to get to Adorno Suites and should take you no longer than 10 minutes. A shuttle bus provides a cheaper alternative to the taxi, but it could take a lot longer if you’re one of the last to get dropped off.

There are also car hire companies available at the airport, which also gives you the freedom to explore Mykonos and its many beaches on your time during your stay. Booking your car in advance is strongly recommended.

Ferries to Mykonos island, Greece

Blue Star Ferries

Blue Star Ferries

An alternative to flying is by ferry, with regular ferries departing Athens to Mykonos frequently every day.

How to get to Mykonos from the mainland? Piraeus, the main port of Athens and the biggest in Greece, has 35 trips to Mykonos every week, but it is worth comparing all offers with three ferry companies operating – Blue Star Ferries (14 times a week) , Sea Jets (7 times a week)  and Golden Star Ferries (14 times a week) . Also, double-check the route, with journey times varying from 3 to 6 hours.

You can get to Piraeus port from Athens International Airport by taxi, metro or bus. Depending on the traffic, the taxi ride could last from 40 minutes up to an hour. For the metro, you’ll need to take the blue line from just outside the airport and change to the green line at Monastiraki station, which should take you about 1 hour 20 minutes. But the bus is your best option, with a 24-hour service departing the airport every 20 minutes during the day and every 40 minutes from 10.30pm to 5 am, taking about 90 minutes.

Rafina, the closest port to Athens International Airport, also has crossings to Mykonos with 11 available per day – Cyclades Fast Ferries (4 times a day) , Sea Jets (4 times a day)  and Golden Star Ferries (3 times a day). Rafina to Mykonos will usually take you around 3 hours.

There is no metro from the airport to Rafina, but you can still get a taxi or bus. The taxi will take around 20 minutes, while 30-minute long buses are in operation from 4.50am to 22.15pm and will get you there in about half an hour.

Most ferries will arrive at the old Mykonos Harbour. From here, it is just a five-minute drive to the centre of Mykonos Town and just a 10-minute drive to Adorno Suites or you can get a short bus to the Fabrika terminal in the heart of Mykonos Town.
